I keep everything on PAF (but there are many other good genealogy software products). I find the PID numbers with Family Insight and update them with that resource. Makes it a lot easier to locate them on Family Tree. Once I find the right person, I can then work on the duplicates or adding new information. Until Family Tree is "perfected" it is not the primary source (for me) of my own family tree. I will do my best to support the creation of the world tree, but I feel my personal responsibility is first to my own kindred dead. I need to be satisfied that ordinances are complete for those folks. Since FT has a current habit of losing/adding people to families and losing temple data, I am comforted that I have kept a record in PAF all along. Michele In a message dated 6/4/2013 9:12:35 P.M. So it seems that it's not possible (at least not in FT) to limit my search to my own ancestors. This is really something that annoys me. I don't have thousands of ancestors in my own tree but a few dozens. However I often want to navigate to a specific ancestor in order to edit some information, add a child or a spouse a for any other reason. I find it most difficult to get to a specific ancestors in the tree without having the ability to search for his or her name. A data base wide search over billions of entries is not very helpful either. So how do you manage to find specific ancestors in your tree in FT? Using another software outside of FT is certainly one good way. Have any other helpful ideas? Thanks.
