IMHO Everyone needs a home program. When you get past a couple of generations and when you start talking cousins, people can't keep it all in their heads. Most people like paper and pencil...especially when you are doing research and creating your families. I Always tell people that once they get started they should consider software. I agree 100% that everyone needs a home program once they get past the first 2-3 generations they can (barely) keep in their heads. But I also agree with everyone else saying a PAF class should not be taught -- because the focus of temple work (in my opinion) should be (a) to research, and (b) to provide ordinances. PAF (I still use it and still love it) is just ONE way to document research. It is no longer used to provide ordinances. So why teach PAF instead of a commercial program/software, and why teach any specific program if that is a matter of personal preference and not the focus of the Church? I could understand one class at the local FHC for users who WANT to use PAF -- then a class on AQ, then a class on any of the others. But Sunday School should be about Church doctrine (if I remember well, the original question was where to learn about PAF to teach it in Sunday School) and PAF is not doctrine (as much as I still use it and love it).
