There is a way to search only a portion of the tree at new.familysearch.org <https://new.familysearch.org> but since that is going away soon I'm not sure if you'd want to invest in it. The product is called Sharing Time and is available at sharingtime.com <http://sharingtime.com/> . It is a one year subscription for $15, although they kept me on for at least two years without renewing for some reason. I loved it when I was using new.familysearch.org <https://new.familysearch.org> before Family Tree came out. Perhaps the publishers will get it to work with Family Tree. I do not know. Using Sharing Time you can make your own index of the names you want. There are other features as well, such as the ability to email a group of contributors to a particular name when email addresses are available. Also, finding people who need ordinances. Meantime, are you aware that the History in Family Tree holds the last 50 names you accessed? That might do the trick for you. The third party software programs, like Ancestral Quest and I imagine RootsMagic & Legacy and others, can tell you how you are related to others. Giving Feedback to FamilySearch lets the folks who make the decisions know what features we are interested in having available in Family Tree. Ann A. Hi, I just wanted to thank you all for your much appreciated input to my question about how to use the search feature to limit the search only to your own ancestors. So it seems that it's not possible (at least not in FT) to limit my search to my own ancestors. This is really something that annoys me. I don't have thousands of ancestors in my own tree but a few dozens. However I often want to navigate to a specific ancestor in order to edit some information, add a child or a spouse a for any other reason. I find it most difficult to get to a specific ancestors in the tree without having the ability to search for his or her name. A data base wide search over billions of entries is not very helpful either. So how do you manage to find specific ancestors in your tree in FT? Using another software outside of FT is certainly one good way. Have any other helpful ideas? Thanks. Sebastian Buck Esslingen ward, Stuttgart Germany stake
