    3. Steve, That one looks like a restricted record because either he was famous or because of him being of Jewish descent. See: Tau, Max (Beuthen, 1897-1976, Oslo), of Jewish descent, completed his studies of philology in Hamburg, Berlin, and Kiel with a thesis on Fontane (Der assoziative Faktor der Landschafts- und Ortsdarstellung Theodor Fontanes, 1928) before becoming a publisher's reader in Trier and Berlin (with Bruno Cassirer). In 1938 he emigrated to Norway, where he lived again from 1945 as a publisher's chief reader (in Oslo), editor, and writer, having during the German occupation (from 1942) taken refuge in Sweden. He wrote two novels, Glauben an den Menschen (1948; in Norwegian, 1946) and Denn über uns der Himmel (1955; in Norwegian, 1954), and devoted himself to peace and (racial) reconciliation, the cause for which he edited Die Friedensbücherei (2 vols., 1956) and which he admired in Albert Schweitzer (Albert Schweizer und der Friede, 1955). He is particularly noted for his recollections, which appeared in 3 volumes as Das Land, das ich verlassen mußte (1961), Ein Flüchtling findet sein Land (1964), and Auf dem Weg zur Versöhnung (1968). Trotz allem! Lebenserinnerungen aus 70 Jahren appeared in 1973 and Das Leben lieben. Max Tau in Briefen und Dokumenten 1945-1976 in 1988. He was the first recipient of the Friedenspreis des deutschen Buchhandels; in 1965 he was awarded the Nelly Sachs Prize.
