    3. The standardized place names system needs lots and lots of work. I have suggested a gazeteer for Danish names which is at http://www.krabsen.dk/stednavnebase/ but no one has listened as yet. In the Danish standardized place names there are sometimes 4 choices for exactly the same place, there are 2 places with the same name in the same county which are not distiguished by the herred name. In Copenhagen, it is very difficult for instance to get the right church of many, many churches which you work very hard to get the right one and then all you can put in is Copenhagen as standard unless you really work at trying to find the place name. If Copenhagen for instand it would be nice to have a complete list of the possible churches pop up so we could choose the correct one. The system needs a lot of work to improve these. Steve Kelsey

    3. If you find that the new FamilySearch program is missing the name of a place, you can use our Standard Finder site to verify the place and pass on a suggestion to add the name that you find is missing. Go to http://labs.familysearch.org, scroll down the page and click on Standard Finder. After a failed search you can send a request to add a place name by clicking on the Feedback button. The Feedback button currently does not work using Internet Explorer but does work using either Firefox or Chrome as a browser. In the alternative you can submit the suggestion and supporting information using the Feedback link in the new FamilySearch. Requests will be forwarded for review and inclusion in a future release of the new FamilySearch. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Steve Kelsey Sent: Sunday, March 11, 2012 10:57 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [LDS-WC] How do I talk w/ people in Standardized Place Names? 3. And hope you do not have French-Canadian ancestors, the worst part is the place in Canada called, Ile d'Orleans, abbreviated I. O. which in NFS becomes (somehow) No. 1...
