    3. Karen raises some excellent points about ancestors having many descendants -- not just the famous descendants but the "regular" ones as well. However, as it stands now in New FamilySearch, many of the ancestors for Stanley Ann Dunham are not available for temple ordinances. Even though the birth dates are more than 95 years ago, the individuals are not available for temple work. So even if there is another descendant wanting to do temple ordinances for these ancestors, I am not sure how they could clear them. There are no ordinance dates -- simply the term "not available" is recorded. Anyone know what we can do for people who are "not available" but were born more than 110 years ago? All this discussion led to a very good result. Br. Samuelsen indicated to New FamilySearch that George Herbert Walker Bush is not deceased and should not be visible to every user. (I hope President Bush 41 lives a long, long time!) New FamilySearch benefits from such information being given to them. Br. Samuelsen's efforts certainly help New FamilySearch and prevent someone else thinking that President George Herbert Walker Bush was deceased. I remember when I was learning to use New FamilySearch and stumbled on the Laura Ingalls Wilder submissions. In the original story there was no brother Albert because he never existed. He was a fictitious character created for the television program "Little House on the Prairie". Support staff at New FamilySearch appreciated the documentation and notes about the fictitious characters. They left them on the system because they said as soon as they were deleted someone else would add them again. (I believe that the temple ordinances were done for this fictitious brother, Albert, too.) The guidelines say that we should follow them for temple submissions. Sometimes we can merely add more information to New FamilySearch and not have to clear anyone for temple ordinances. It seems that adding sources and documentation to other records may help other researchers today and tomorrow in knowing more about the people in the program.
