I am having a similar problem. I have deleted incorrect relationships- wrong parents and incorrect spouse. Yet when I look under ordinances, this person is listed as needing to be sealed in those incorrect relationships. Have submitted case to Family Search Support- but haven't received any answer yet. My sealings problem is somewhat complicated. It involves a man named Hans Egede Glahn, of which there are at least 4 that I know of. At some time some person combined him with his grandfather of the same name in nfs. Someone must have then added another father in nfs not connected with the grandfather. In FT, I came to the family and first combined duplicates of the father, then the mother, and then the children and the children's spouses. Then I deleted the improper relationship between each child and their grandfather with their mother so that only the relationship between them and their mother and father existed. Then I deleted the relationship between the grandfather and their mother. Then I checked the temple work and found that the sealing of every child to their parents showed that it needed to be done. I am certain that these were previously done and properly done as well. On each childn it shows 2 sealing to parents but the names of those parents are exactly the same because the system has decided that the sealing to one set is to the grandfather with the mother and the other to the father and the mother needs to be done. It will take a great deal of effort to determine whether the children were sealed to the grandfather of the same name with the mother or to the actual father and mother. Since they have the same name, I do not see a problem at all with the sealings, but I suspect they will tell me they have to be all done again. What do list members think> Are the sealings valid and how can you tell which the children were sealed to, the grandfather with the mother or the father(of the exact same name) and the mother? Steve Kelsey
My sealing problem is somewhat complicated. It starts with a man named Hans Egede Glahn of which I know there are at least 4. Most of the temple work for his children were done early on and some by extraction as well(where children were sealed to their parents as well). Then in nfs someone combined him with his grandfather of the same name which made the children appear in a family showing the parents as correct and the parents as the grandfather with their mother.. There were also various duplicates of the children and parents as well in the system. I combined firstly the father, then the mother, and then the children duplicates as well as duplicate children's spouses. I then had to delete the relationship between the children and their grandparent so that only the relationship between their parents existed. Also deleted the relationship between the grandfather and their mother after the children were all gone. Then I checked the temple work and all of the children showed that they needed sealing to their parents, however, I am sure all of these were done and properly. NOW, the sealing to parents for every child shows that sealing to parents needs to be done. On every childn it now shows 2 sealings to parents with exactly the same names; however, the father might actually be the grandfather of the same name and might not. It will take a lot o research now to determine whether the sealings of each child were to the father and mother or to the grandfather(with the same name) and the mother(improperly connected to the grandfather). Do you think the sealings need to be done again? How can one tell which Hans Egede Glahn the children were sealed to originally anyway? I think the sealings are just fine and do not need doing again. I suspect they will tell me they all need to be done again. I'd vow sometimes the system has to "catch up" or re-index after combining records. I thought I had a sealing that didn't show a week after it was done, (I had combined a newly emerged couple of names on it and thought I'd goofed it up.) I took the card to the temple a couple of days later and the sealing was in place. Do anyone have an answer to this question asked. I am sorry that this information is wrong. I would like to delete the whole paf from Ancestry but I don't know how to do it. My father did some family history work years ago and my mother said that he got some of his information from other family members. I went through our large pedigree chart trying to find some Wilsons and finally found where our line ties in with the Wilson line. How can I delete this paf from Ancestry.com? Thanks for your info and if you have anything else I would appreciate it. Anyone can tell me how to edit so I can send the reply to this lady? W. David Samuelsen
That makes sense. I also thought that in the merge process it was the records of the children with ordinances that might be getting deleted, leaving the records of the unsealed ones on the tree. -----Mensagem Original----- From: Ann Amadori Sent: Wednesday, May 22, 2013 4:52 PM To: lds-ward-consultant@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [LDS-WC] sealings problem I wonder if this happens when combining duplicates of parents and the children are listed twice. I have the same problem with my family, my 3rd great grandparents have been sealed and all children sealed to them. I n the New Family Search they show all work completed, but in the Family search family tree they show many husbands and wives each that are not theirs and show their work incomplete. I have been working on this for weeks, finally getting them together, but without temple work done. Other husbands and wives never known to them are still showing as other husbands and wives. Familysearch can't seem to correct this. Also, a friend I am helping found her sister in law showing as deceased, I was there when she called her sister in law on the phone and although she is 92 years old, she is definitely alive. We told family search that news and they have to investigate since she is not the one who put that information in the record. It was added by some distant relative who is not known to the immediate family. It is frustrating to deal with all of these discrepancies, but they are caused by people who do not do the research and how do we educate them as to the importance of researching before they enter the information? Unfortunately you can not sinc from Ancestry Trees to your genealogy program. The only program that will sinc with Ancestry is FTM. AS was posted earlier you can download your info as a gedcom and the merge with your database but you won't have a copy (picture) of your sources. To get that you can save each source to your computer and then attach to your database. I know for myself that was more work than I wanted to do so I broke down and bought FTM. Because I had purchased the program in the early 90's they gave it to me for the upgrade price. (I had'nt used it for 20+ years). Then all I do is sinc each time I'm in ancestry and then import the file to the genealogy program of choice. Hopefully that makes sense to you. Jacqui On Tue, May 21, 2013 at 7:58 PM, Mary S. I had the second problem as well with an aunt who is very much alive, but who a different relative by marriage had listed as "deceased" without checking (this relative had also submitted a temple work request for the women's deceased daughter without seeking permission). I only knew about the error because of the temple work submission, which the other relative graciously unreserved once I politely reminded her of the church policy to seek permission from the nearest relative (the deceased women had both siblings and at least one parent -- the mother -- alive). I did a report to FamilySearch, and was asked to provide a current address and phone number for the women erroneously listed as deceased (I actually told them I had called my aunt personally and talked to her as well). The record was corrected within 48 hours. One year with my subscription to Ancestry.com they gave a free copy of Family Tree Maker...It was the 2005 version and I never used it, but came across it just a couple of days ago. I believe there are two ways to transfer data from Acestry.com. You can create a Gedcom of one of the trees and download into a new AQ file. Then you have to compare the two files and merge individuals. Second is purchase Family Tree Maker from Ancestry.com because they communicate with each other. I have never done this but that is what FTM advertises. You won't be able to sync your Ancestry Tree unless you use Family Tree Maker which does not sync with Family Tree or new.FamilySearch.org. See http://ancestry.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/473/kw/download%20GEDCO M for instructions. You can also upload your GEDCOM to Pedigree Resource File and compare the names with the ones in Family Tree. See https://familysearch.org/search / Genealogies / Submit Tree at the bottom of the page. Ann A. On 5/21/2013 2:58 PM, Mary S.
