    2. Gay, The picture he brought me is a black and white 8 x 10 of 5 adults of various ages plus a child in old clothes that look from the 1800's. They look as if they are suspended in air and are staring straight out at the camera. Below them is written "WE'RE WAITING. . .. FOR OUR WORK TO BE DONE! I thought my grandson said he got it when he went to the FHL in Salt Lake. He just left again Thursday for SL to stay with friends and go to conference or I would ask him to be sure. Perhaps he bought it at an LDS bookstore. 1. [LDS-WC] Bulletin Board
    2. I found this story in the Gospel Doctrine Teacher's Manual online. It is found in Lesson 39, "The Hearts of the Children Shall Turn to Their Fathers". My grandson brought me a poster back to IN from SL FHL of people who had passed and said "We're Waiting For Our Work to Be Done". I took the poster to Staple's and had it enlarged and placed the following story on the bulletin board outside our FHC a few weeks ago. It has helped generate more interest. Anyway, I thought I would share with you in case anyone is interested. Joan Frederick William Hurst was working as a gold miner in Australia when he first heard Latter-day Saint missionaries preach the restored gospel. He and his brother Charles were baptized in January 1854. He tried to help his other family members become converted, but they rejected him and the truths he taught. Fred settled in Salt Lake City four years after joining the Church, and he served faithfully as a missionary in several different countries. He also worked as a painter in the Salt Lake Temple. In one of his final journal entries, he wrote: “Along about the 1st of March, 1893, I found myself alone in the dining room, all had gone to bed. I was sitting at the table when to my great surprize my elder brother Alfred walked in and sat down opposite me at the table and smiled. I said to him (he looked so natural): ‘When did you arrive in Utah?’ “He said: ‘I have just come from the Spirit World, this is not my body that you see, it is lying in the tomb. I want to tell you that when you were on your mission you told me many things about the Gospel, and the hereafter, and about the Spirit World being as real and tangible as the earth. I could not believe you, but when I died and went there and saw for myself I realized that you had told the truth. I attended the Mormon meetings.’ He raised his hand and said with much warmth: ‘I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart. I believe in faith, and repentance and baptism for the remission of sins, but that is as far as I can go. I look to you to do the work for me in the temple. … You are watched closely. … We are all looking to you as our head in this great work. I want to tell you that there are a great many spirits who weep and mourn because they have relatives in the Church here who are careless and are doing nothing for them” (Diary of Frederick William Hurst, comp. Samuel H. and Ida Hurst [1961], 204). ____________________________________________________________ Personal Injury Victim? However, let me tell you what I was told recently about the IGI by FamilySearch folks. The IGI as we know it will no longer be available, but they realize the research value of the extracted entries from the IGI. There will be a source of some kind made available from the extracted data--I don't know what it will be called or what it will look like. So, they will be taking down the online IGI at some point, but the data that we all want to keep and use for research will still be available to us. Since everything seems to go to Labs first, I'd watch for it there. However, I have no idea "when" this will happen. Jill Crandell

    3. The New FamilySearch staff has openly admitted that the current source function is not good. They are actively working on improving that portion of the program, so I (and many others) am electing not to enter sources until the "new and improved" sourcing is available. It causes far less frustration! :-) Maybe that isn't what they would like us to do, but the current system is difficult enough that I don't have time to mess with it. I would say it is important to give feedback and then be patient for programming changes. Jill Crandell -----Original Message----- From: W. What is so despicable? Having to break up the source into individual items to fit in the broken up "Source" format. What a waste of time EACH TIME. What's worse? Where's the specific entry for CHURCH record under "Published Information"? And for Family Tree - where is the tab to enter sources? W. David Samuelsen

    3. I'm also very unhappy about the way that sources from extracted records show in NFS. Basically the sources just plain old don't show up. Instead of being able to see a film number as in the IGI, it just says LDS temple records. If they ever take down the online IGI, it will be a huge loss.
