While it is true that not all houses have internet access, libraries around the Midwest do and also our FHCs. And, yes, they will let you work on Indexing at our Stakes FHC. I recently made up a PPT presentation for the YW in my Ward to go along with their SS lesson on FH that included indexing. While making up the PPT, I found some great tutorials at the FamilySearch site on Indexing. I think that they are somewhat new. I do not remember seeing them in the past. I was quite impressed with the format and it is always a good review for me to figure out what to leave blank and what to do if you can only ready part of a name or place. It seems to me that they have improved the Indexing in general and I find that it is easier for me to do the work since the changes were made to the software. 2. Approaches to speaking on Family History - not as a how-to, not as a "why-to" but from the impact it has had on you. Hi Tom, I hesitated about sharing this and then decided I would. It's probably not something you can use, but it's something that has definitely had an impact on me as I have searched for my family through the last several years. On Feb. 14, 1977 my grandmother died at the age of 95 yrs. old. I sent an entry form to SL with her information requesting that her work would be done. It was sent to Washington D.C. and the ordinances were performed in her behalf. The year before her death I had received my patriarchial blessing telling me that my mission was to research my relatives and open the prison door for them. It goes on to tell me that my joy would be great when I received their thanks in the kingdom of our Heavenly Father. Well, I had reflected on this blessing many times wondering how that might be, how they might thank me and how I might feel. After all, I was told I would feel great joy. In 2002, I awoke after having a vivid dream of my grandmother. We were standing outside in a place I had never been. We were in front of a stone wall that had bits of greenery growing out and up between the cracks. There was an open doorway and I looked in trying to see the inside. It was completely dark and I could not see so much as a glimmer of light therein. My grandmother had a very hard life and I had not in this lifetime ever seen her happy and I don't remember her ever hugging or being demonstrative at all. Yet her face glowed with a radiant happiness and smile that I can still see clearly in my mind to this day. She extended her arms and hugged me and repeatedly kissed my face on both sides of my cheeks. How did I feel? In my dream I was amazed at her transformation and the joy I felt and still do when I recall that memory. Of course, I realize that this is a dream and not what you would be looking for. However, this personal experience that came as a result of working in my family history has made a lasting impact on me. Good luck with your fireside. Right now full functioning: Twin Falls, Manti, Vernal, Monticello, Rexburg are fully nFS on notice - Logan, one stake at a time. I have used that method also to print FORs. Now RootsMagic4 has a feature that allows you to FORs right from the software. There is a site that has tutorials for the NFS interface that is great!!! http://www.rootsmagic.com/fs/ Nancy Scott Cincinnati, Ohio -----Original Message----- From: lds-ward-consultant-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:lds-ward-consultant-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Megan Smith Sent: Tuesday, June 02, 2009 06:05 PM To: lds-ward-consultant@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [LDS-WC] printing FORs I just printed a FOR through lab.familysearch.org - go to Family Tree, login with your nFS login, click on the Temple tab, sort your reserved people by the ones whose cards aren't printed yet, then check the boxes for the ones you want to print. Joan, Thank you, I appreciate you sharing your experience. I believe in different kind of dreams - some nightmarish, some ordinary mortal ones, and some spiritual dreams that can be a warning, directive, edifying, or pure joy. I believe you had a spiritual dream. If you ever feel like it might be a spiritual dream, you can ask for an interpretation or direction on what you are to do or just enjoy the peacefulness of it. Sounds like you will be greeted by your grandmother after you pass on to heaven. Sandy sandy_anderson41@earthlink.net Why Wait? Joan, What a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing. My grandmothers line was extremely difficult to trace. Once, when I was very sick, I dreamed of her. She was trying to tell me where to look for her records. But, since I'm a motor mouth, I didn't give her time to tell me anything. I was too busy asking her questions. However, after that dream, ideas began to pop into my mind and I was able to find enough info to have her ordinances done. Whenever I get a bit discouraged, I remember the special feeling I had during and after the dream. Beverly On Tue, Jun 2, 2009 at 2:45 PM, phlander2@juno.com <phlander2@juno.com>wrote: > 2. Hi My sister and I live in different provinces in Canada and I have printed a FOR and then scanned the document to her. She printed it and was able to take it to the temple where they printed the cards. It is just another way of moving information quickly when there is a youth temple trip or some other need for cards. Our temple allows us to send the FOR code by mail to the temple. Not the number alone but a scan of the code and numbers on the FOR. Yes, this will work if the temple where the helpers are attending has the nFS system installed. Remember, if you are sharing with groups in Utah and Idaho, be sure to check and see if they can print cards from an FOR. I think most of the temples have the new equipment installed, but I'm not positive all of them do. Jill Crandell
David, I don't understand why you say, "Not all have access to FS Indexing". Just go to http://www.familysearchindexing.org and click the volunteer button. my understanding, though I have not had a need, is that you can now save the FOR as a pdf file, in which case you can send it as an attachment to anyone you want and they can then process the work...
