    3. Sorry to disagree with you on this one Shanna, but the View Related Places feature is not on the new site, which is a major headache and a half for those of user conducting foreign research. 3. I have had a LOT more compassion for indexers since I started help indexing and especially since I started arbitrating. It is not so easy to criticize now that I am making the decision as to what shows up. That is why I am indexing and arbitrating my head off so that I can contribute as accurate a record as possible. I read and reread and reread and reread the instructions and the updates so that I follow them as accurately as possible. Some of the instructions are buried pretty deep down inside and are hard to find. I am sure many people do not dig deep enough and read all the instructions. They are probably upset when I ding them but they have not followed "the rules". I know the work that is being done is important and that many miracles will need to happen for it all to come together but oh my goodness, look how far we have come in the last 10 years!!!! ~Pam

    3. When you do searches, do you take advantage of the "Exact" box in the search boxes that need to be exact? I am NOT a fan of the search capabilities at familysearch.org but I have been using the exact boxes, where it makes a difference, and it has helped weed out lots of the riff raff I am not interested in. 3. The 1880 census with all of the data, i.e. each household together with their ages, relationships, and birthplaces I assume will now be entirely lost from the site. The new version is absolutely terrible as it doesn't show birthplaces unless you bring up each and every individual--what a pain. When something works well, leave it alone. If you want to spend the money for ancestry I guess you can get it there. After all of the work I personally spent on indexing the 1880 census and having it so available and in such beautiful form we now have a terrible mishmash in presentation. 3. I take it all back. If I "Search All Records" the 1880 census DOES come up, and it is searchable household by household. Fabulous. However, one must search on "All Records" and not just celect "Census". That is the only way it will work. Thanks for all the feedback. 3. I attended a class--don't ask me where because with webinars, podcasts and conferences, I am not sure where--I complained about the related places not being available on the new catalog. They said that when the catalog is completed, we will be able to see those again. Maybe not as Related places but they will be there. I have seen that more and more counties are showing up when there is a drop down menu. The catalog is still in beta test and changing all the time. Let's keep giving them the feedback they are asking for. 3. Actually they aren't. You will see what the public see, including errors. You will not able to fix errors in "Family Tree". You have to go to new.familysearch side to fix them. That includes the mis-merges, wrong dates, places, wrong spouses, etc. What you can do, submit for ordinances in Family Tree, not in new.FamilySearch. I already asked about that. I also enjoyed the old word lists and research guides which may or may not be in the wikis. Michele

    3. all word lists are already in the Wiki along with all guides. The guides are so outdated, based on pre-internet access to records. The main page of new format: at top of the page are FamilySearch (it is clickable), Learn, FamilySearch Centers, Indexing, Blog "Family Tree" shows up between FamilySearch and and Learn when you sign in. and inside white area, there is another line Records, Trees, Catalog, Books Trees are those from Ancestral file and Pedigree Resource Files Books are the ones digitalized and contains more than 45,000 books. Now to where word lists and guides are... Go to "Learn" link Then to Research Wiki. You won't find "Guides" there. They had been broken down to sections, within state pages. They are now labeled Topics. The reason for this is because in the very near future, we will remove the Classic FamilySearch site entirely. When that happens, the link to that site will no longer be needed. S Census. Can if be found anywhere in the same format where one can search neighboring households page by page? The original on Ancestry is much harder to read and search and I miss the other? Help! I have contacted familysearch support and no one seems to know anything about it. Cathe in Colorado

    3. What about all the reference helps that were on the previous site? Are they still going to be available does anyone know? I have referred lots of "newbies" to that to get help they can download and use at home.
