the new format does differently and much easier. You need to add familysearch.org to the list to allow for popups. Add to My Source Box, when clicked, trigger a drop down box to add to the source box. David Samuelsen On 5/5/2013 7:31 AM, Pat Wagley wrote: > To the right of the opened record: > Sources > a.. The best way to get it into your source box is to go to the www.recordseek.com website. It has a bookmarklet that you can drag to your bookmark bar. It will have the name of "Tree Connect". Then when you are on the Fold3 site at the item you want to put into your source box just click on the "Tree Connect" bookmarklet and it will have you log into familysearch and format the source info and put it into the source box. I use this alot and it works great. Use Tree Connect to create sources from any website. Works directly with Family Tree. Available as a bookmarklet at recordseek.com. It's a great tool and it's free. I teach it in all my classes! Then there's no issue of copyright with images, because you are linking to their website. Memorial Page Now that Family Tree includes photos etc. - we can set them up every relative with instant 'memorial' pages - no need for multiple sites. This is a powerful use of the new family tree - that will appeal to people who have no in genealogy research. Nancy: FamilySearch is "Partnered" with Ancestry.com, the parent company of Fold3.com and the relationship allows users of FamilySearch Centers to access the website as a point of courtesy and a reference point for Military Records, primarily. The User Agreement for the website should be read to understand the use of the content of the website, however, you may reference (or provide a "link" to) any document or image on the website. Of course, as was stated before, we must always provide proper credit for the information and where it came from. [I hate it when I do that-- the preposition at the end.] Place your mouse over the image and right click-- it should give you a choice of saving the image or copying the link location of the image. In this case you should select the "copy link location". Then simply "paste" to the appropriate field. If you need more specific step-by-step, contact me directly. Mark E. They're allowing some pay-to-view sites to use the indexing because of the expense in putting up ALL the images that we're getting indexed. As "pay back", these pay-to-view sites, allow family history centers to use their sites for free. Affiliate family history centers (like libraries that are allowed to order films in) don't get those web sites for free. You should be able to make a copy and transfer it to your thumb drive and then attach it wherever you want it to go. Just don't forget to manually enter in where that picture is from, because a picture of a document without what the document is and when & where it is from time & location turns out to be a major frustration to others who don't know where the document was taken from, or even necessarily what the document is (although sometimes documents are self explanitory as to what kind of a document they're from--they aren't always). Nancy, the Memorial Pages on the Fold3 website are free for everyone at home or anywhere and you can set them up for anyone else you want for free. Several years ago Fold3 set up Memorial Pages for everyone in the US Social Security Death Index and you can put photos, images of documents, information, etc., on that page. Or you can set up a new Memorial Page and put them there. It's the other data on Fold3 that requires a subscription or going to a FHC to view. I don't think the Church is connected to Fold3, other than to have it available on the FHC Portal, like Ancestry. Incidentally, Ancestry bought Fold3 a few years ago and changed the name from Footnote to Fold3. The name Fold3 stands for the third fold on the American flag which the US gives to a vet's family when he or she dies. We've been posting pictures, documents, and information on Memorial Pages on Fold3 for several years and have put the links to them in Family Tree. That was long before we could post photos and stories on Family Tree itself and we still can't post images of documents on Family Tree. So Fold3 is one place to put images of documents and put links to them in Family Tree. Regarding putting an image in your Source Box, it sounds like you are talking about the image of a document and not a photo of the person because you wouldn't need your Source Box to post the photo of a person on Family Tree. If so, what about doing a screenshot of the document and posting that on a Fold3 Memorial Page and then putting a link to it in your Source Box to put in Family Tree? I guess the only question would be whether you have the right to post the image of the document since you don't own the document itself. Nancy, You asked about John Lester Hardison, "Someone did the baptism, Confirmation and Initiatory already so why do you have to wait to do the E & SP?" Here are two possible reasons. One: the baptism, confirmation and initiatory were done by the closest living relative who doesn't need permission. Two: the baptism, confirmation and initiatory were done before the rules changed. Yes, the rules have changed. In the not-to-far-distant past the rule was that permission was needed for a person born since 100 years ago (rather than 110 years ago). You asked, "What does 'shared with Temple but not printed mean?'" When a person is submitted for temple ordinances, there are two choices. One choice is that you print ordinance cards and then you do the ordinances. The other choice is that you assign or share the ordinances with the temple system. For Eslie Z. Hardison, endowment and sealing to parents were assigned or shared with the Temple by someone whose name appears to be Maureen Henderson. The ordinance cards have not been printed by the temple system. I may be wrong, but I believe that for someone else to do those ordinances, Maureen Henderson must be contacted and be willing to release or unreserve those ordinances from the temple system. This release can only be done before the temple system has printed the cards. When such a release is done then someone else can reserve those ordinances, print the cards and do the ordinances. Nancy: Although the replies, so far, have been well meaning-- they are incorrect. I'm going to start with John Lester Hardison-- as far as what you are seeing, you can reserve and complete the ordinance work, HOWEVER, you need to do some work first. 1) Check for duplicate records-- NONE. 2) Check else where for additional information-- there is no spouse or children, you need to look for them. I've done that for you, found the US Federal Census 1910, 1920 & 1930, but 1940 shows him with a Mary Bell Hardison (no Maiden name, b. 1906, Tennessee, USA) and children, Willie E Hardison (b. 1932, Tennessee, USA) and Lois M Hardison (b. 1935, Tennessee, USA). There could be more children. Check for Trees-- I'm using Ancestry.com-- the first tree has complete birth and death information (b. 7 Oct 1907, Maury, Tennessee, USA and d. 12 Jun 1986, no place). No Trees show spouse or children. 3) Also found were Marriage records for Tennessee, Williamson County, for 3 Mar 1931, which is inline with the birth of the children. It also shows her Maiden Name as "Butler" and has their signatures. AND there are entries for City Directories for 1948, 1950, 1953, 1956, and 1958 for Columbia, Tennessee, USA. 4) Found Social Security Death Index entry showing Columbia, Maury, Tennessee, USA as the place of last residence, possibly the death place. AND Find A Grave.com com has Image of a double headstone, shows Mary Butler, Jan 13, 1906 - Sep 3, 1991. 5) The next step is to find the Funeral Home for the next of kin OR an Obituary (neither was easily found). 6) Wait the 4 years to complete the ordinance work as the children are probably still living. Now, Reese Hardison was born more than 110 years ago and no permission is needed to complete the ordinance work. The rule used to be 95 years. This was fun, Thanks for asking, Mark E. 1. Something happened to delay or sickness or whatever. Whatever the reason may be during in the interim. 2.
