In the 1860 census FM Layton was living with Sarah Layton age 31 b. TN and William Layton age 1 yrs. b. TN. I have not been able to connect him with any other Laytons in the area. Sept. 15, 1864 in Licking County, Ohio). Their daughter Nancy Layton (b. 1813) married Peter Courson and died May 29, 1878 in Licking or Perry County, Ohio) and had at least one daughter, Eliza, b. 1830, m. Zachariah Parish Orr. Dear Layton List, I just found you on the Internet, and hope some will recognize my Layton lineage. My gg grandfather was Morgan S. LAYTON, born Jan 1846 in Fayette Co., PA to Mary McClain and --- Layton. Morgan's father died about 1850, and we don't know his first name. Morgan had 2 sisters on the 1850 and 1860 census for Fayette Co., PA, Elizabeth and Sarah, ages 6 and 8 in 1850. So Mary McClain must have married --- LAYTON about 1840. One sister moved to Andrews Co., MO and had a family there, her married name ALLEN. I believe her granddaughter was Rena Walton Pendleton. Mary McClain Layton b ca 1819, moved to MO with that daughter, and died in Andrew Co., MO. about 1909. Her parents were John and Keturah McClain both originally from Westmoreland Co., PA, then moved to Fayette Co., PA. Keturah died about 1873, and John McClain died before 1870 in Fayette Co., PA. Would love to hear from any members of this family! Morgan Layton left Fayette Co., PA by 1870 because that year he was on the IL census in Putnam Co. with his mother, Mary McClain Layton. A year later he married Ida Coretta Patterson/Frazee and they homesteaded in first Republic Co., then permanently in Cloud Co., Kansas, by 1881. Hope some on the list share this lineage! Hi List, Just got back from Washington Co, Sandersville, GA this evening. Spent time with relatives I hadn't seen in 30 years! Went to the courthouse, Mrs.. Lord is wonderful, and found out that my gg-granddaddy remarried after he lost his first wife Annie Layton. He married Mollie Layton.. Her sister? Annie was married to John R. (Rafford-Raifford) Hartley on Sept. 19th, 1886. She died on June 19th 1887 leaving her husband of 9 months and her 10 day old son Clarence Julian Hartley. John married Mollie in 1889. I am researching the Layton line now and would like to find the parent info for Annie and Mollie. Can anyone help me? I had hoped to get the marriage cert's with the parents names but alas, they aren't on there. The ladies at the health dept. as well as the library were great. Very helpful.. Unfortunately, the historical soc. wasn't open and the courthouse records were lost when that mean ol' yankee Sherman passed thru town.. Anyway, if anyone can help, thanks... I mad a mistake on Clara Layton (Sweeney) she died in Fargo ND not Spring Valley, buried in Detroit Lakes MN.

Thomas and Salina died in Spring Valley MN found out recently they were buried Washington, MN. Can anyone help with this line. Cannot find them in Spring Valley or Washington. Also their daughter Clara Layton (Sweeney) died in Spring Valley but was buried in Detroit Lakes MN shes not there either. Thanks
