I believe it descends from Telitha Braswell who received a 100-acre land grant in Surry County, NC, in 1795. A Jane Braswell married a John Hutchens in 1792 in Surry County and in this family appears the name "Telitha" several times. Do you have any Hutchens/Hutchins close by or connected with your Lawson family? You have in this family many names that are in my Elizabeth Lawson m. Boardvine Braswell: George, Thomas, Caroline, Emaline, Nancy, Eli. Are you saying that Telitha Lawson was born out of wedlock to Isabelle Lawson? Elkanah Hutchens, son of John Hutchens and Jane Braswell, b. 1803 Surry County, NC, m. Frances Pilcher and they moved to Greene County, IL, in 1829 and then to Marion County, KS. They had a daughter, Mary Talitha Hutchens b. 1838 m. Samuel B. Hill. Ellis Hutchens, son of John Hutchens and Jane Braswell, b. 1805 Surry County, NC, m. Mary (Polly) Shore(s) and moved to Morgan County, IL, in 1829. This couple also had a dughter named Mary Talitha Hutchens b. 1845, Brentwood, Washington Co., AR, and a daughter, Eliza Eveline, and a daughter Trity Caroline. The Hutchens book said that soon after their marriage, Ellis and Mary emigrated with a colony to Illinois, being among the pioneer settlers of Morgan County. Another unusual name in the Hutchens family is Quintilla, b. 1801. She was a daughter of John Hutchens and Jane Braswell, m. George Calviness Brandon and they moved to Green County, IN.
