There was a James Lawson in early Buncombe Co., N C where our William Lawson was. Ours was born before 1755 in Va. Wm came into Hawkins Co., Tn about 1778 and then with his father in law went to NC This James disappeared from there Our Wm had a grandson in Buncombe named James. I have been to Mabry Mill and did an oil painting of it years ago. They have put it on lots of calanders. The 1813 deed was land held by Charles Mabry and the one in 1818 was land that was purchased in Patrick Co., VA. The second deed was a house across the road from what is now Mabry's Mill which belonged to the Mabrys and sold to James. This latter land was sold by James Lawson, Jr. (and I know not how he got the land) in 1826 to Thomas Scott. I do not know if this is so. There is another William Lawson and his name was the first listed in the Lawson Bible, died in 1844. I do not know who he was. Look at the Lawson Project kept by Carl Lawson and you will find those two deeds listed and a lot of other mentions of Lawsons. These are accurate, I know.
