Julie, Have any male Lawsons in either line done the DNA test yet? If they have, we can tell if they will connect. If they haven't and you know of some, now is a good to to do the DNA test. We will need a male Lawson since this is a test on the Y-Chromosome (the male sex chromosome). The reason is is a good time now is that Family Tree DNA, the company used by both the Clan MacLaren Surname DNA Project (Lawson is a Clan surname) and the Lawson Surname DNA Project, is running a reduced price special on the 37- and 67-marker DNA tests. (I highly recommend the 67-marker test since this gives us the most information.) This special ends on 31 December, so any orders need to be placed by then. If you have one who is willing to test, you can go to http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=T20437 and join. This is the Clan MacLaren Surname DNA Project. If you do this, I also recommend joining the Lawson Surname DNA Project once the first results come in. There is no extra cost to join a second project. Carl Lawson, a co-administrator for the Lawson DNA Project, and I do work together, but it is best if the member is in both projects. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
