Lawson, 87, of Prophetstown, Ill., died Sunday, July 16, at Illini Hospital in Silvis, Ill. Services will be at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Wade Duroe of Hillcrest Baptist Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Elmo Lawson Jr., Chris Grady, Shane Grady, Cory Grady, Todd Orr, Robert Hetzler, Charles Geertz and Shawn Carter. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Lawson was born May 2, 1913, in Agency, the son of Wever and Jessie Barker Lawson. He married Hazel Honts on Oct. 21, 1933, in Kahoka, Mo. He retired from John Deere as a welder and crane operator with 30 years of service. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Grady of Muscatine; a son, Elmo Lawson and his wife, Mary, of Cordova, Ill.; a sister, Evelyn Bonick of Branson, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel on May 17, 1999; a daughter, Shirley; one sister and two brothers. Looks like he is 96 to me.
