It looks like we are descended from a Harris! These were supposedly Melungeon Gibsons and the haplotype is I1. At 67 markers the only match was a Harris, but there was a 3-marker difference (I don't understand what I am typing) but it said there was a 99% surety that they shared an ancestor 24 generations ago. At 25 years per generation, that's a loooooooooooooong time. Not much help. I am surprised by the multiple marriages. As for the out of wedlock children...I like that term I saw on a pension application: "Mother found the other children while Daddy was away in the war."
