Piney was likely pregnant with Gaines in 1840. I still think that she was the wife of the John Lawson who disappeared in 1840 along with Lacey and Washington Lawson. Burrell was not in Hawkins County in 1836, so I am pretty sure that they just came back from Indiana. She had John, Clem/Clen/McClenan, and Jane in 1840 and Gaines was born in 1840. Cane was born later. It doesn't seem likely that she was a mistress after 1840, or she would have likely had many other children like Sarah Manis did.
