That is a different Wm Lawson. HALIFAX COUNTY VIRGINIA MARRIAGE BONDS: 1758, May 24, William Lawson & Jane Banks, Spinster. This other William Lawson and Jane Banks Lawson moved to Georgia where they lived until they died. That William Lawson, was a 1st Lieut & 2nd Lieut under Capt. James Quarles, 2nd Regt. DAR records state he was born 1740 in Halifax co., VA, died before 25 October, 1800, in Hancock Co., GA. He was also a captain in James Quarles 2nd Regt. The comment that there were only two Wm Lawson's who were Rev War vets is not correct. There were at least four that I have seen record of. Wm "The Rebel" was married to Rebecca whose maiden name is still yet to be proven. In Bill Porter's publcation the marriage to Jane Banks was listed as a POSSIBLE marriage for our Wm. Later researched proved this to not be our Wm. Wm Lawson II who married Nancy Baker was not born in VA. He was born in NC. These are my husband's direct ancestors. There are few trees on rootsweb that have mixed this Lawson family up with the Halifax Co Lawson's. And several trees that were uploaded years ago and have never been updated with any correction on the Jane Banks wife issue. Rhoda died in Taney Co, Missouri. There was also one more child for Wm II & Nancy. Lavina born abt 1797. What question did you have about Rhoda?
