Author: jlakin46 Surnames: Lawson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lawson/6860.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I agree that can be the case in the male line. It is possible for someone interested in DNA testing (if they are female) to ask a brother or other male relative to test for them. That said, it is more difficult if you are trying to trace a female. We all know how hard it is to do that because marriage changes the woman's name. Even if you do know who she is,(eg: Sarah Lawrence Lawson, b 1803), in order to do MT-DNA, you must trace her daughter and her daughter on down until you get to a female you can test. Just because you can't get a DNA test done, doesn't mean you do not have N/A ancestors. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
