Have you tried to get a copy of his death record. I take it from your user name that your surname is Lawson. If you are male, you may want to consider doing a DNA test. If so, I invite you to join the Clan MacLaren Surname DNA Project (Lawson is a Clan surname). The project is with Family Tree DNA and I recommend the 67-marker test.
