Joseph Lawson's father David is listed on the 1840 census in Logan Co. Due to the creation of new counties, the family is in Boone co 1850 and 1860 and in Lincoln Co in 1880. The male line of the family is Native American and they fled to Logan Co to avoid the "Trail of Tears".
