The early Thomas Lawson in Surry in 1779 on Cadles Creek is surely the same Thomas there in 1800 and 1810. There are deed records (see Carl Lawson's DNA project at the website lsited below). The second, younger, Thomas Lawson is in Stokes County. The Thomas Lawson in Surry on Cadles Creek we believe to be married to Sarah Bryant (see Rev. War affidavit of Sarah Lawson dated May 16, 1833, at http://lawsondna.org/Media/NC-Counties/Surry_NC.html). Since a Martin Lawson and Alexander Lawson both lived in Surry, I believe them to be sons of Thomas Lawson. I haven't done much research in Hawkins County, TN.
