Maybe the children died before they were actually named. That would be my first guess. My second guess is that she was so old that she couldn't remember their names. Author: GayleEllison29 Surnames: Lawson, Braswell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lawson/6905.1.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you for posting Randolph Lawson's pension file. If he had 3 children before the war and 11 after, that makes 14 children? Only 9 are listed below. Or, are there 11 total; in which event, 2 are missing. For me, since my Lola Elizabeth Lawson lived in Clinton County, it would be worthwhile to know exactly where Randolph Lawson and Susannah Lawson lived in Clinton County. Guess I'll have to get out a map and check the census to find out if they lived anywhere close to where my Boardvine Braswell and Elizabeth Lawson lived. Boardvine and Elizabeth lived in the Beechbottom community around Albany, KY. Cumberland County, NC, was formed from Bladen County, NC, in 1754 and Cumberland County is down toward SC. It wold be great to have a Randolph Lawson male descendant participate in the FamilyTree y-DNA Project. There is a very good likelihood we would find out which Lawson line Randolph descends from, since the Lawson Project has grown considerably. Author: drdjones Surnames: Lawson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lawson/6904.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: You have to provide more information about when and where Ray and Roy Lawson lived in Raleigh County. The Beckley Post-Herald mentions several Ray Lawsons who may or may not be the same individual. For example, in the 1950s there was a Ray Lawson who was a high school baseball player. In 1963 there was a Ray Lawson who was a forest ranger. There were several different Roy Lawsons. One was mine (he wasn't yours), and I can usually determine if the article was about my Roy. Author: GayleEllison29 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lawson/6905.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, there. I don't have the answer to your question, except to say that my Boardvine Braswell family still lives in Clinton County, KY. My ancestor, Boardvine Braswell b. 1799 NC m. Lola Elizabeth Lawson, b. 1803 NC, in 1820 in Surry County, NC. By 1830 they had moved to Cumberland County, KY, later Clinton County, KY. We believe Elizabeth Lawson's father to be a Thomas Lawson, b. abt 1755 (according to the 1800 and 1810 Surry County, NC, census). I believe there are postings on the rootsweb Lawson List about Lewis Lawson. Your grandmother Etta/Ettie Carter's family? My ggrandfather Ephriam Braswell (grandson of Boardvine Braswell) married Jane Carter b. in Sumner County, TN. Since Sumner County, TN, is adjacent to Clinton County, KY, the Carters are probably related. A lot of research and effort by many has been spent trying to sort the Carters from Halifax County, NC, which migrated into KY and TN from Halifax County, NC. I am interested in this Thomas Lawson also. Gayle Braswell Ellison Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
