    3. Family Tree DNA is running a limited time special on upgrades. They are offering about a 25% discount; however, this offer only runs through 23 May. So, now is the time for you to upgrade if you have tested to less than 67 markers. I have found that the 67-marker test is the best and offers me the most information when I do an analysis of a group of related Lawsons. Yours aye, Bob McLaren Chairman, Genealogy Committee, Clan MacLaren Society of North America Genealogist, Clan MacLaren Society (based in Scotland) Administrator, Clan MacLaren Surname DNA Project (Worldwide) Member, Association of Professional Genealogists Robert McLaren bobmclaren@earthlink.net Why Wait? We are looking for any info on the family of David Lawson b 1803, married Sarah Lawrence. Our earliest record of them is in Scott Co VA, 1830, but we have a DNA match with several Hooker families in Patrick Co who were there in the last half of the 1700s. The Samuel and Jacob Hooker lines are the ones we match. Janet Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. I have been searching for years trying to find the proof that Berry Lawson born abt 1775 in  Charlotte Co.Va. is the son of Nathan Lawson born 1755 in  King William Co.VA. I am a descendant of Berry through his daughter Sarah, born abt. 1820, Mercer Co. KY. who married Benjamin Mullenix in Decatur Co. IN. Everything I have found online says Berry is the son of Nathan, but there is never any proof mentioned. Can anyone help me with this proof? Thanks for your time. Jan in FL.

Author: drdjones Surnames: Lawson, Helton Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lawson/6753.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: It is not my line. But, Peter Lawson's genealogy was sorted out about three years ago. His DNA results support the genealogy. Peter Lawson was the son of Peter Lawson and Icy/Isa Unknown of Hawkins/Hancock counties. Peter Lawson (the father) was the son of Mormon/Moorman Lawson and second (or perhaps third) wife Elvy Collins. Mormon and Elvy were married in Lee County, Virginia about 1802/1803. Jonas Lawson of 1850 Hawkins County stated that he was present at their wedding. I suspect that he was a son of Mormon by the previous wife. Martha was Martha Ann Helton. Martha was the daughter of James Helton and Mary Unknown. Now, your Daniel Lawson appears to be Peter's John Daniel Lawson. As I pointed out in may email to you, I am away from my home visiting my daughter and grandson. Should be back in a couple of week, to my computer at home where I can upload your information. By then maybe we will have the rest of your results. In the first 12 markers, you are only off from the Falling River Lawson by a mutation of 1 at DYS439, which is a fast moving marker. There is also one other member of the Lawson DNA Project that has the same line as you. He is member number 10380 and you can find him our table at http://lawsondna.org/Pages/DNA_Project_37 markers.html If you take a look at this member you will see that he has a mutation, which is different from the Falling River Lawson at DYS449 and just below him is another member with this mutation. Unfortunately this second member never sent us a pedigree of his family, but it will be interesting to see if your test shows this mutation. You and member 10380 have common ancestries down to Governor Sevier Lawson. It might be of interest if you contact member 10380 by clicking on the left hand blue member number in the table, which will bring up a window to let you sent him an email. Sorry that I can post your results at this time but will get to it as soon as I get back home. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
