It is documented in her pension application. Jonas Lawson is implied to be a son because he stated that he attended their wedding in Lee County as a child. I have a John Hudson Lawson c1806 as son of Mormon Sr. I don't have any reliable source for making the attachment between John Hudson and Mormon. The one below is obviously NOT the right one. LAWSON to MULLINS Know all men I, Hudson Lawson of Lee Co. VA bound unto James Mullins sum of $270 this 4 Aug 1814 a title to land in Lee Co adjoining Campbells land patent to Wm James Branch and part of 500 acre survey on North fork of Blackwater and south side of Powels Mountain. But, Wayne is correct, the first Enoch to be document in the census is too young to be the 1840 Hawkins County Enoch. He is usually considered to be Emanuel Lawson. Now, Emanuel is listed a born in VA in one census, so he could be an Enoch Emanuel or Emanuel Enoch or Enoch could be a nickname. The name William Stokley Lawson cannot be documented. Someone decided that was his name to connect him with a certain line. I personally believe it is wrong. The death certificate of his son John who died Bexar County, TX says that his name was Hutcheson Lawson. I don't know if that would be Stokley Hutcheson or Hutcheson Stokely. The census data strongly suggests it. This is such an unsual name that he has to be a child or a nephew. I believe that a Walker County Lawson--John Lawson from Stokes, NC--was tested and he is closely related to the Lawsons that are believed or known to be from Stokes County. I personally suspect that John Lawson from NC/AL was his father or grandfather. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Another reason is that James Willis was prominent in prosecuting L&A females in Hawkins County. I guess it could have been a covering act, but I am not sure. There is no record of this group in the 1836 census. My strong suspicion is that Piney was a Willis--natural or stepchild and that James Willis was her brother or uncle or cousin. Several Willis males went off to Alabama. She could be related to one of those. I can't find Piney in Indiana. Help! I also found Lawson land patents in AL and AR and will post them. It is possible that Enoch used another name and could possibly be Paschal. It is also possible that Hennis b: ca. 1797 could be the father of Paschal b: ca. 1815 but again don't see any evidence as yet. Joseph Roberts and (Edmund) E.S. Goodman witness Edmund Lawson's will 1832 - Edmund's son Clement John Roberts was involved in disputes with Edmund Goodman, Andrew Ingram/Ingraham and others in Hawkins Co., TN court records. John Roberts seems to disappear - some say to Pulaski Co., KY. A Martha Roberts b: ca. 1772 (Patsy is a nickname) lives between Paschal Lawson and Andrew Roberts in 1850. 1832 - 1834 Enoch Lawson signed as security for marriage of Andrew Roberts and Polly Howe and is assaulted by John Starnes Jr. where he is linked to Banks Lawson and others and disappears after 1840 census. Banks linked to Paschal, Peter, Alem, Anderson Lawson by court record. A look at the Livesay family first names seem to also reflect a similar set to these Lawsons.
