Belcher is a fairly common name but same place and time as the others in Henry and later Madison/Rush counties IN. There is also a Sally "Beecher" (I think possibly misread of Belcher) living in District 3 of Hawkins Co., TN near Banks, Paschal, Anderson, Alem Lawson etc.. 3. My Stokley Lawson b. 1811 married to Rebecca Neill/Neal. I would much appreciate anything you might have on them. He was born and married in Lee Co Va and moved after several children were born to Campbell Co. Tn. He is son of David Lawson who is supposed son of Mornan Lawson and his first wife. Yes he did have a first wife, a court document in Hawkins Co. Tn conerning the pension of Elvia Collins Lawson states he had a first wife. There was a Thomas Moreman (google his name). One of his descendants may have been the source of old Moreman Lawson's name. Remember the peculiar nature of these Lawsons (and other families) in using other's family names not necessarily of direct blood relatives. The Sheltons may need to be looked at closer too as Moreman's first wife is rumored to be a Shelton or related. There is that old Charles Lawson (?1830 census or if not, 1840) in Hawkins Co., TN who is also a bit of a mystery. Who were his children, where did he go or did he use another name later ? If you look at the Rogers family, I think they they provided a link to the Lawsons in name if not source. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
