    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: jamespatty1 Surnames: Lawson, Haacke, Wilshaw, Phillips, Simpson, Ellerby Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lawson/6810/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for information on a Lawson family that were living in Toronto Ontario Canada in the early 1900's. They came over from Walsall, England sometime after 1902. The father was William, his wife was Edith Lillian (nee Davies). They had five children, Evelyn May that married a William Wilshaw, Eliza Jane that married a Arthur Howard Phillips, William Cyril that married an Agnes Simpson, Joseph Edward that married a Gladys Ellerby, and Winnifred (Winifred) Lilian (Lillian)that married a George Haacke in 1919. Edith Lillian died in 1933, her husband William was listed as the informant on her death certificate. George Haacke and Winnifred Lawson were my grandparents. they had 9 children, the first 3 including a set of twins died soon after birth. My father was the seventh child and was born in 1929. The youngest was born about 1933. Winnifred (Winnie) left the family in 1934. The youngest 5 children spent time in an orphanage, and were later returned home to be raised by their father and a step-mother. Gossip is George and Winnie divorced, she moved to Buffalo, New York remarried and had more children. George Haacke passed away in 1956 and any secrets went with him. My father had no memories of his mother and didn't know her name until I became interested in genealogy. He passed away in 2001 never knowing what had happened to his mother. I'm still trying to find out, any information would be appreciated. Pat Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Why not go to the Lawson Project, there are two on Internet, one is for 37 markers and one is 67 markers.  Your Q might match up with some of the Lawsons in one or both of those project.  Although I grew up there, I did not know the Hooker families, none seemed to be in my classes at school.  There was a David Lawson there before my time who married a Sarah.  Check out the yDNA Lawson Project of Carl Lawson. I would invite you to visit my web site at www.yorksgen.co.uk/forums/portal.php Registered members can post details of their Lawson families in the appropriate Forums. Doing so opens access to my databases containing over 500,000 records. I have checked my records and do not find a Lawson family containing the names in Northamptonshire and so wondered where you had ascertained this as where they lived in England. I have however located 1 family with Robert and Mary plus children Elizabeth b.c.1836 plus Harriett and Emma. They appear in the 1841 UK census only and so disappear before the 1851 census. If you would like to write to me personally at gdl@yorksgen.co.uk I will gladly expand on this information. Gerry Lawson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Jean_Byars Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lawson/6803/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My Lawsons are from Northamptonshire, England. Robert Lawson came to America with his second wife, Mary (Moore) Lawson, and 5 children. The children's names and birth dates are: Elizabeth b. abt. 1836; Harriet b. abt. 1842; William Bonser b. abt. 1843; and my great-grandfather Harvey b. abt. 1846. A daughter, Rose, by Robert and his second wife, Mary (Moore), was born in 1850. Robert's first wife, Mary Bird, died before 1849 and is buried somewhere in England. It has been extremely hard to find any information about this family. They arrived in Illinois in June of 1851 and Robert became a naturalized citizen in Oct. of 1860. Robert had a half-brother, William Thomas Bonser, who came to America before him in April of 1832 and another half-brother, William Richardson, who came to America with Robert and his family in June of 1851. If anyone has anything on this family, I would appreciate it so much if you would be willing to share it with me. I will gladly share with you.
