    1. Re: [LAWSON] POW/MIA Korean War, LAWSON
    2. Julie, You can research on line and learn much about the Korean Conflict. It was a political war but never officially called a war, but it was one of the toughest in our country's history. While we won many battles, we were also over run when the Chinese Army entered the war. Our troops retreated in the largest such action in our history. Soldiers froze to death, lost feet, hands and other body parts to the frozen temperatures. We didn't win. They called a truce. Gen Douglas MacArthur wanted to take on the Chinese communists and deal with them but President Truman fired him over that. It was one of the bloodiest in our history. There were also some of the most heroic actions taken by some soldiers. Do the research. It was one of our worst military experiences.

    1. Re: [LAWSON] Lawson & Sanders
    2. I, too, am looking for the Lawson-Sanders connection based on the DNA results.  My Lawson connection is through a James Lawson, born 1819 and came into Polk County, TN before 1839.  Oral history says that he was of the Falling River Lawsons, but DNA does not prove this.  It has been my theory that IF he is of this family line, it is through a daughter (possibly unmarried).  Another theory is that my James was taken in by someone in this family line and raised as a Lawson. Another researcher alerted me to records in Hawkins County, TN that showed the family of William Lawson (of the F-R line) were involved in a court case in 1822.  One of their witnesses was a James Sanders.  I have had e-mail contact with a Sanders researcher.  She does not have any information relating to a Lawson-Sanders connection.  Or any Sanders men who had a "love 'em and leave 'em" reputation for that matter.   However, she did have an ancestor who passed through East Tennessee. You may contact me off the board at cmh21@comcast.net . Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family.
