    1. [LAWS-L] LAWS Frederick - Litcham, Norfolk

    3. I am still knocking my head against a brickwall as far as the elusive Frederick's concerned. Posting again in the hope that some of the newcomers might be able to help. The 1881 Census tells me Frederick was born c1857 to Henry and Susannah LAWS of Weasenham Road, Litcham, Norfolk. In 1881 he was 24, unmarried, and a shoemaker. The 1901 Census has him married to Harriet HAMMOND, and employed as Relieving Officer at Gressenhall Union Workhouse, Norfolk. In 1926 he's to be found on George WAGG's PROBATE "proved at NORWICH 17 June 1926 by Frederick LAWS, [brother-in-law) retired relieving officer" Harriet appears to have died sometime after 1901 Census and Frederick remarries but there is a big query regarding who he married! The Australian birth certificate of his youngest son, Ralph, gives mother's name as Ann BUNN, but, a living relative has recently told me that Frederick married his sister-in-law, Mary Ann HAMMOND, who is, actually shown on the 1891 census as living with the family. I think they were Baptists. HELP! Any ideas anyone? Frederick's exact date of birth? Date of marriage to Harriet HAMMOND? Date of Harriet's death? Date of marriage to second wife be it Ann BUNN or Mary Ann HAMMOND? Date of his death? Su London
