MOSES LENOIR - Bessie Mae Laws Moses, 71, of Gateway Nursing Home, died March 19, 2002, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born June 15, 1930, in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Dosey Anne Phelps Laws. A member of Zion Road Baptist Church, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kelly Milroy Hamby, and five brothers. Survivors include her husband, Plato Moses; two sons, James E. Hamby and Larry J. Hamby of Lenoir; a daughter, Mary H. Whisnant of Lenoir; a brother, William Laws of Lenoir; two sisters, Zelma Allen and Macy Price of Lenoir; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Randy Gibson at 11 a.m. today in Abundant Life Church Cemetery. The family will be at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home at other times.
