Midland Reporter Telegram (Midland, TX) March 28, 1997 Johnnie Laws Zimmerman Johnnie Laws Zimmerman was born January 28, 1903, to Samuel H. and Margaret J. Laws in DeRidder, Louisiana. The family moved to Texarkana, Texas, where she attended school and Texarkana Business College. Johnnie came to West Texas with an older brother and his wife in 1923. She married Morris Zimmerman on June 24, 1924, in Stanton, Texas. Morris died in 1966. They had lived in Stanton, Monahans, and Lamesa, Texas. Johnnie had resided in Midland since 1979. Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland, and was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Floyd, C.B., and Mose. Survivors include a son, Hardin, of Midland; two daughters, Bitty Stockstill of Stanton, Texas, and Sue Branam (husband-Houston) of Monahans; a granddaughter, Betty Sue Rogers (husband-Bill) of Alvin, Texas; two sisters, Flossie Burnam and Sammye Laws of Stanton; a brother, Ladd Laws, of Andrews, Texas; five other grandchildren, Suzanne Bloodworth (husband-Marty) of Midland, Dianne Solum (husband-Matthew) of Spokane, Washington, Emily Cross of Waco, Texas, Wesley Zimmerman of Edmund, Oklahoma, and Morris Wayne Stockstill; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be directed to Evergreen Cemetery Assoc., P.O. Box 1087, Stanton, TX 79782; or Building Fund, First Baptist Church, 2104 W. Louisiana, Midland, TX 79701; or the charity of one's choice. Mrs. Zimmerman died late Wednesday at Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital in Midland. Funeral services have been set for Saturday, March 29, 1997, at 3 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Skaggs, of Kelview Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, Texas.
