Henry died when he was 6 years old. Family lore has it that William LAWS (b. 1824 in Hilgay, Nfk) came first to New York and was employed working on building the subway system in the early 1850s. He was followed a year or two later by his wife Alice HARPER (b. in Feltwell) and son Henry b. 1844 in Feltwell, Nfk). They then moved on to first Dane County Wisconson and then around 1865, after Henry came back from the Civil War, moved to Wells, Farribault County, Minnesota. Henry met and married Harriet Ann CRAW (b. 1847, Greenbush, NY) at Minnesota Lake, Minn. on the fourth of July, 1867. The CRAW's were living in Minnesota. Around 1893, The clan including grand parents William & Alice LAWS, Henry & Harriet LAWS and children, and Earl ANTHONY who married Henry & Harriet's daughter Ada LAWS and their child all moved to Rogue River (Woodenville), Oregon. Most are burried there. As far as Alice HARPER's family, I know nothing. Mager LAWS (b. 1816 in Hilgay, Nfk) can be found living in Methwold on the 1851 census along with his wife Meriah (b.1814, Lakenheath, Sfk) and children Elenor, Ann, Mager, William, and Carolin. They are two entries away from Henry and Alice LAWS so must have been living next to each other. I have always suspected a link as both males are LAWS from the small village of Hilgay and based on the births of their children, were living in Feltwell at the same time as long as Methwold. As a side note, on the 1851 census, a nephew Robert TURNER b. 1853 in Upwell, Nfk is living with WIlliam, ALice & son Henry LAWS. I know nothing of him. john@laws.tc
