Mary was born on August 2, 1922 in Goldsboro, NC to William and Lida DeShong. On March 9, 1946, she married Lester Laws and moved to Fayetteville where she lived for 55 years. She was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her parents; her two brothers, Edward and Earl DeShong; and "Little Brigitte." Mary is survived by her daughter, Brenda Calabretta, and husband, Gary of Austin, Texas, her daughter, Marsha Schlander, and husband, Jim (Chip) of Wolcott, CT and her grandchildren, Jason and Shea Schlander, who loved their "Gam Gam" very much.
