OF GLEN ELLYN A service to celebrate the life of Richard O. Laws, 62, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Born Oct. 26, 1939, in West Bend, Iowa, he died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Interment will follow the services. Richard had worked for IBM for 35 years as a support customer engineer. He retired in October 1999 and thoroughly enjoyed life after retirement. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking, and especially loved and enjoyed his children and grandchild. Richard was a kind and loving man, and his family greatly appreciated his honesty and integrity. He will be missed by many. Surviving are his wife, Brenda; children, Marci and Jason (Jori), both of Lombard; granddaughter, Briana; mother, Evelyn; sister, Dixie (Harold) Gottsch; mother- and father-in-law, Thelma and Whitney Gautreaux; sisters-in-law, Caryn (Cecil) Hymel and Teri Desormeaux; brother-in-law Bryan Gautreaux; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Herb Laws, and brother-in-law Gene Carlson. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
