LAWS Jr. LENOIR - Robert “Bob” Lee Laws Jr., 74, of Powell Circle, died Feb. 5, 2001, at his residence. Born Jan. 20, 1927, in Virginia, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Laws Sr. and Minnie Proffit. A member of Nazareth Advent Christian Church, he retired from Caldwell Floor Covering. A merchant mariner, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Coast Guard. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Laws and Thomas Laws. Survivors include his wife, Pansy Mae Phillips Laws; three sons, Robert Lee Laws III of Riverside, Calif., Rex Laws of Basking Ridge, N.J., and Ricky Laws of Lenoir; two daughters, Robin Laws Byrd and Rena Laws of Lenoir; a stepson, Clyde Greene Jr. of Lenoir; a stepdaughter, Barbara White of Lenoir; a sister, Bernice Laws Cunningham of Granite Falls; and eight grandchildren. A graveside service was held Tuesday in his church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Caldwell County Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, N.C. 28645. Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
