She was a native of McCullers, born July 14, 1922, the daughter of the late David and Lula King Laws. She was a member of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Walker's Cleaners. Family members to cherish her legacy; a sister, Lessie Lee Laws of Winston-Salem; a brother-in-law, William Henry Gwyn of Winston-Salem; two nieces, Letha Mae G. Lee (Charleston) of Germany; her children, Derek Lee of California and Dana Lee of Atlanta, Ga. and Constance G. Boone Manus (Luther) and her daughter, Alicia Boone of Erie, Pa.; a nephew, Willie Gwyn (Mary) and his son, C. Sterling Gwyn of Winston-Salem; faithful cousins, Hazel Phillips (Bradley) of Garner and Charles Denning and devoted wife, Michelle and their children, Charles, Jr. and Charla of Winston-Salem; a special friend, Jackie Crawford of Winston-Salem and a host of other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, from the New Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel J. Cornelius officiating. Interment will be in the family plot of the Oak Spring Baptist Church Cemetery in Stokesdale. The family visitation will be from 11:30 to noon at the church.
