LAWS HARTFORD--Howard V. Laws, 82, Hartford, died Wednesday, July 10, 1996, at an Emporia hospital. Mr. Laws was a farmer and stockman. He was born Feb. 16, 1914, in Melvern, the son of Vincent and Mary Young Laws. He had lived in Hartford since 1916. Mr. Laws was a member of the Non-Denominational Christian Church. He was married to Hazel L. Johnson on Jan. 10, 1935, in Emporia. She died April 5, 1996. Mr. Laws also was preceded in death by two sons, James Laws and Ray Laws. Survivors include three daughters, Wilma Hancock, Midland, Texas, Lois Krahenbuhl, Emporia, and Mary Miller, Olpe; two sons, Robert Laws, Jackson, Mich., and Duane Laws, Hartford; and three sisters, Alice McMurphey, Emporia, Edna Craig, Topeka, and Margaret Garrison, Tulsa, Okla. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will be at the Hartford Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Howard V. Laws Memorial Fund to be designated later and sent in care of the funeral home.
