LAWS HARTFORD--Hazel L. Laws, 79, Hartford, died Friday, April 5, 1996, at an Emporia nursing home. Mrs. Laws and her husband farmed several years in the Hartford area. She was born Sept. 29, 1916, at Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Ella Richards Johnson. Mrs. Laws was a member of the Christian church. She married Howard V. Laws on Jan. 10, 1935, at Emporia. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Duane Laws, Hartford, and Robert Laws, Jackson, Mich.; three daughter, Wilma Hancock, Midland, Texas, Lois Krahenbuhl, Emporia, and Mary Miller, Olpe; two brothers, Lowell Johnson, Lincoln, Neb., and Bud Johnson, Montague, Calif; a sister, Fern Skoland, Nakomis, Fla.; 21 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Laws was preceded in death by two sons, James Laws and Ray Laws. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Jones Funeral Home at Burlington. Burial will be at the Harford Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Hazel L. Laws Memorial Fund to be designated later and sent in care of the funeral home.
