Laws, 62, a former custodian at College of Emporia, died early Sunday morning in his home at 1315 Exchange St. According to Dr. C. H. Munger, District Coroner, Mr. Laws died of a "self-inflicted gun wound." Mr. Laws had been sick for several weeks. Mr. Laws, a resident of Emporia, since 1945, was born Aug. 18, 1903, in Lebo, the son of Oscar and Lizzie *Casten Laws. He was married to Alice M. Parry Feb.0, 1925, in Emporia. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jo Ann Laws, and he is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Earl J., of New Orleans, La., and Donald, of Pomona one daughter, Mrs. Sheldon (Betty Lou) Bowers, Mission; two brothers, James, of Marysville, and Ray, of Lebo; six sisters, Mrs. W. Funk, 413 State St.; Mesdammes Willliam Selig and Kate Nelson, Osage City; Mrs. Frank Rosine, Lebo; Mrs. Raymond Eggleston, Medicine Lodge, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Robers-Blue-Barnett Chapel. They will be conducted by Dr. William A. Hubbard, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery at Lebo. *Lizzie Laws' maiden name was Strife. The Casten surname may be the name of a step-parent.
