NANCY PARSE 94, DIES AT OTTAWA Mrs. Nancy Parse, 94, widow of a Civil War veteran, Peter Parse, died Wednesday night, March 21, 1945, at Ransom Memorial hospital in Ottawa. She had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Dean Blackstein of Route 2, since 1928. Nancy Laws was born April 18, *1850 in Rush county, Indian, the daughter of James *M. and *Sarah Ann (Lowe) Laws. Relatives of Mrs. Laws came to this country in the *Mayflower. Miss Laws and Peter Parse were married November 1, 1866 at Prairie City, Ill. He died in 1928. Mrs. Parse went to the Blackstein home from Rosemont and Agricola neighborhoods, where her husband farmed. Surviving relatives are the daughter, three brothers, Vince and James Laws, Hartford; Oscar Laws, Lebo and Mrs. Mary L. Dickson, Rosemont and many nephews and nieces. Mrs. Parse was a member of the Church of Christ. The funeral is to be at the Dengel-Towner Colonial Chapel this afternoon at 2 p. m. Rev. J. H. Reid of Ottawa Free Methodist church is to officiate and interment will be in Agricola cemetery. Mrs. Asa Blackstein is a niece and she and Mr. Blackstein went to Ottawa for the funeral. Note: *These are probably errors. Records show she was born in 1849. There are no records to show a middle initial for her father James, and her mother's first name was Mary not Sarah. It may be wishful thinking, but nothing has been found to show she was descended from ancestors, who came to this country on the Mayflower.
