Posted on: Laws Biographies Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/LawsBios/10006 Surname: Laws, Clayton ------------------------- I'm researching the Ralph Laws & Nancy Clayton Laws family. Ralph Laws b.6/1832? married nancy Clayton b.1834? around 1858/59? (dates from 1880 census)both listed born in VA. I was told that one or both were part Native American & Black. Nancy was said to have be born in Clayhill VA, but I haven't been able to find that on any maps. They had 12 children; Irene, Ralph grew up to be both a(Methodist & Baptist Preacher), Tom/Thomas, Kattie or Katheryn, Mary, Azalis, Charles 1/2 brother?, Nancy/Nannie b.1872 Winchester Va, James, Rachel, missing name, Luvenia b. 10/10/1883 White Post Va. (my Grandmother) she married James Robert Moore b.6/26/1883Winchester, in 1903. James was the son of Joseph Moore & Martha Newman Moore. I found Ralph and Nancy Laws in the 1870, 1880, census and possibly in the 1860 census, Clarke County. There was another family with almost identical names. I was told that Ralph & Nancy are buried on their property in White Post Va, that is still in the family. Any help would be appreciated, I would love to find out more about the Native American side of the family. I have pictures of my Mother and Aunt dressed up in Native American clothes that they said they often wore when they were little between the ages of 5-9 years old. Luvenia was baptized in 1893 at Freewill Baptist Church White Post?
