Born in Oconee County on June 6, 1920, Mrs. Laws was a homemaker and a member of Welcome Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Eugene "Gene" Laws and wife Brenda of Westminster; daughters, Darlene Smith and Marvin Carpenter of Westminster, Evelyn Miller and husband, Bobby of Westminster; sisters, Helen Patterson of Fair Play, Edith Franklin of Easley; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and special friends, Opel McClure and Willie Lyles. Mrs. Laws was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Desmond Laws; parents, John Cokes and Laura Duke Moore; brothers, Glen, J.C., Claude and Chester Moore; sisters, Ruth Green, Millie Zatazalo and Edna Powell Brooks. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2001, from the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home with the Revs. John McKnight and Buck Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery. The body is at the Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 23, 2001. The family is at the residence of son, Gene Laws, 631 Welcome Church Road., Westminster. The Sandifer Funeral Home, Westminster, is in charge of arrangements.
