A native and lifelong resident of Swain County, he was the son of the late C.D. and Nicie Branton Laws and husband of the late Iretha Proctor Laws. He was a retired employee of the National Park Service and a member of Victory Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Davis and husband, Tommy, of Bryson City and Debbie Burrell of Bryson City; three grandchildren, Olivia King and husband, J.C., April Bird and Drew Burrell, all of Bryson City; a great- grandchild, Kasia Bird; and a brother, Clyde Laws of Bryson City. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home with the Revs. Danny Sweet and Tom Harris officiating. Burial will be in Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
