Alva Law died Monday Jan.19, 1998 in Floyd Co. Memorial Hospital, New Albany, Indiana. The funeral was held Jan. 22, at Pykes Funeral Home , Henryville Indiana. Alva lived in Henryville since 1933 when he was in the CCCcamp at the State Forestry there. He was retired from The Whayne Supply Co. Louisville Ky., and a VETERAN of World War 11. Surviors : His wife Edna Mae Enteman; a son Kenneth Law ; Henryville; a daughter, Wilma Buis, A brother Merril Law of Clarksville Indiana; three sisters Dorothy Rippey , of Aurora, Colorado; Mildred Owen, Corpus Christi, Texas; and Opal Harris of Tampa, Florida. and a Grandson, Joseph Law, of Henryville. For the genealogists, Alva was a descendant of John Law Sr. b1722 in Va. who furnished food and lodgings for the Revolutionary soldiers and three of his sons were in the Revolution. Next was JESSE Law b 1757 in Va, He is well known in the Revolutionary Was.history. and many of us have joined the SAR and DAR on his record with Service number 1688. Jesse married Mary Polly Willis and in our line there was William Joel Law b 1782 in Va. In 1799 they moved to Trimble County and Oldham County Ky. and about 1813 they moved to Jefferson County Indiana. I have found their original home stead and the old LAW Family Graveyard on the property.
