Monroe (Michigan) Evening News, Sun., Dec. 21, 1997 P. 12A (note Arthur Myers' mother's maiden name was LAW) Arthur H. Myers Arthur H. Myers, 83, of Detroit Beach died at 12:30 pm Friday in his home. Friends may call from 1 to 9 pm today in the Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe, where services will be at 1 pm Monday. Rev. Lawrence Detruf, pastor of the First Church of God, Monroe, of which he was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, under the auspices of Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which he was a life member. Born Dec. 20, 1913, in Lloydell, PA., he was the son of John and Eliza (Law) Myers. He married Kathleen Kenyon on Nov. 1, 1945. During that time, he served in Africa, Italy and the Pacific Ocean. He received several commendations, including the Asiatic Pacific Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars. He also earned a Meritorious Unit Award in the Philippines. He was employed for 44 years by the Monroe Auto Equipment Co. and was a former Man of the Year honoree. He retired in 1979 as a ride engineer. He was a member of the Green Meadows Golf Club and the Detroit Beach Association Board and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Police. In addition to his wife at home, he is survived by one son, William of Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Debra) Lake of LaSalle and Mrs. John (Kathy) Tyrrell of Saluda, NC; two brothers, William of Struther, OH and Oran of Orrville, OH; one sister, MaryJane Newey of Ogden, UT; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Jr., and two sisters.
