    2. OBITUARY:The Daily Republican (Friday April 6, 1951) DEATH COMES TO OSCAR LAWS, 86 Oscar Laws, 86, died at St. Mary's hospital at Emporia, early today, April 6, 1951. He had been in poor health for some time. Mr. Laws was a farmer and stockman and his home was six miles southeast of Lebo. He had lived most of his life in Coffey county having been born November 29, 1864 in Illinois and coming to Kansas when he was a young man. He was married to Lizzie Streif in 1886 at Lyndon, Kansas and she died in 1946. There are ten children who surviv: James Laws, Hartford; Mrs. Mattie Funk, Emporia; Mrs. Wm. Selig, Osage City; Mrs. Pete Nelson, Hartford; Mrs. Frank Rosine, Lebo; Earl Laws, Emporia; Raymond Laws, Lebo; Mrs. Carl Erickson, Kansas City, Mo.; and Mrs. Raymond Eggleston, Medicine Lodge. Funeral services will be held Sunday at the Lebo Methodist church and Rev. Paul Davis will conduct the services. Burial will ber in the Lincoln cemetery. FUNERAL: The Daily Republican (Wednesday, April 18, 1951 SERVICES HELD AT LEBO FOR OSCAR LAWS Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Lebo Methodist church for Oscar Laws who passed away Friday at St. Mary's hospital in Emporia. Rev. Paul Davis officiated and burial was in Lincoln cemetery. Laurence Standiferd, accompanied by Mrs. Charles W. Knight, sang "Beautiful Isle" and "I've Done My Work." Casket bearers were Irvin Courtney, Jack Courtney, Wilbur Rosine, Lewis Laws, Don Laws and Lyman Selig. Oscar Laws, son of Mary Ann and James Laws was born November 29, 1864 at Joliet, Illinois. He passed away April 6, 1951 at St. Mary's hospital, Emporia, Kansas at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 8 days. He was married to Lizzie Louise Streif at Lyndon, September 1, 1886 and for two years lived near Halls Summit. During the following nine years, their home was established at Melvern. In 1897 the home was started at Lebo, where he continued to live the remainder of his life, a total of 54 years. Preceding Mr. Laws in death were his wife, Lizzie Louise, three children, John Gilbert, Minnie and Susie. The surviving children are James E. Laws, Hartford; Mattie Funk, Emporia, Nellie M. Selig, Osage City; Katie P. Nelson, Hartford; Irena Rosine, Lebo; Earl S. Laws, Emporia; Raymond M. Laws, Lebo; Laura Belle Erickson, Kansas City, Kansas; Bernice Laws, Kansas City, Mo.; Josephine Eggleston, Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
