Born March 13, 1933, in Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Eliza Marley Laws. A member of Ambassador Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Bible ministry and a nursery worker, she retired from Burlington Industries. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Gurney Laws, Dallas Laws, Sanford Laws, Donald Laws and Turner Laws; and a sister, Estelle Secrest. Survivors include her husband, Fred Clark Richards; two daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and the Rev. Robert Setzer and Diana and Donald Helton of Lenoir; two brothers, Peyton Laws and the Rev. Paul Laws of Wilkes County; and five grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Robert Setzer and Shawn Davis at 11 a.m. Friday at her church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bryan Helton, Stephen Setzer, Jack Griffith, Bob Bohler, Jeff Curtis and Danny Caudill. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Austin and Coleman Hamby.
