I have a Mary Laws that married Elijah Cottingham, her father was an Elijah Laws who died in 1814. I believe that Elijah had a son named Joshua Cottingham, who might have been your Joshua's father or uncle? Elijah was the s/o William Laws and Sarah Bevans, d/o Rowland. His father did not leave him any land in 1729, which may mean that he was still a minor. By 1748, Elijah patented LAWS ADDITION in Worcester Co. MD. Elijah d. 1794 and had 7 ch. named in his will. (William, Elijah, Joshua, Mary Cottingham, Martha Givan,[mine], Rachel Coulbourne, and Rhoda Laws). Do we have a link?
