    3. Dear All In response to the request to introduce myself - here are the details The surname LAWS/LAWES turned up in my husband's ancestry on the ANNETTS side of the family. All the records for this generation appear to be in the Amport, Hampshire area. Most of these records are from the IGI so I am aware that I really need to check the original records. Sarah LAWES married George ANNETTS on 13 May 1824 They had at least one child - Mary who was baptized on 2 Oct 1825 George then appears as the father of a number of children whose mother is Maria LAWS William baptized 9 Mar 1828 Thomas baptized 2 Aug 1832 John baptized 24 May 1835 Henry baptized 1 Oct 1837 Jane baptized 16 Mar 1840 Samuel baptized 6 Aug 1843 Edward George baptized 3 Aug 1845 Francis baptized 3 May 1849 These records raise at least a couple of queries (as usual):- 1. Were Sarah Lawes and Maria Laws related? 2. Presumably Sarah died and George remarried Although this is the female line, I would like to resolve this mystery. It does seem a shame that so much family history seems to be dedicated to researching the male line. After all there is a saying "It's a wise man who knows his father." If the above rings any bells with anyone I would be delighted to hear from them. Hope someone can help. Jennifer [email protected] Middlesex, England
